  • “Popup” type controllers in the Preset XML file

This is a question for maltaanon or others who know the PresetEffects.xml / “pseudo-effects/custom-effects” workflow:

I notice in the PresetEffects.xml file there is a control type defined called “Popup” where you could define preset string variables to be selected, but it doesn’t seem to be used in any of Adobe’s owen pseudo-effects. I tried to implement it but obviously got the syntax wrong because then I couldn’t invoke any of my pseudo effects, which seems to be a symptom of bad XML in the file. If I take away that line everything works again.

Anyone managed to make this work? I was surprised to find it there as it’s not one of the normal Expression Controls but it would be very useful to have it.

Also, useful if anyone subsequently found out how to reference it properly from an expression…

    Thanks,

    LMN

When I said “take away that line” I mean that if I take out the line where I tried to define a “Popup” controller, the code works again. It’s since been confirmed by Todd Kopriva (Region of Interest Blog) that although the controller type seems to be defined there, it’s not supported.

    Too bad.
