8 Pro locking up while loading .VEG
So Vegas 8 Pro has suddenly started locking up while loading a particular .VEG file I’d been using extensively for the past several months. This one has multiple other Vegas projects as clips inside it. It used to always lock up (the program cannot be clicked on and XP puts “Not Responding” in the title bar) at 27% on the little loader indicator in the bottom left.
I tried creating a copy of the file, then switching away from the Project Media tab (since I’d had a problem with that in 7). Now it got to 94% but still locks up. The vegas80.exe process continues to consume between 80 and 100% CPU usage, with mem usage around 300MB, but runs as a background process or something because I’m able to continue using regular desktop applications just fine. No matter how long I let it sit, though, it never un-freezes and finishes loading the project, or even to close the program normally.
First, any suggestions on whats up? Second, is there a way to look at a log or data dump to tell where/why it’s locking up? I could sure use to save the time of not having to recreate this project. Oh and yes, I’ve tried loading the backup file too, nothing changes.

so… sorry but nevermind. I figured out that for some reason my two external drives had been remapped without my knowing it. So I guess the projects within projects, all needing remapping of media, was just too much to handle. After opening and re-saving each of the projects inside my main one, it now opens normally. Sorry, I thought I’d tried about everything, but hadn’t noticed that until I started opening other projects.
