  • Problems with progresive vs interlaced in AVI export

Just had an embarassing moment with a client.
Using Vegas 7 I exported a mixed HDV and DV (pal) format project to AVI to allow an Avid editor, using a symphony suite, to on-line the VT for transmission.

For all DVE moves and zooms in the timeline I selected the ‘reduce interlace flicker’ but the project still looked like I had exported it as 25p rather than 25i. No matter how much I stressed about it I could not seem to export to AVI as 25i. I eventually had to export the project from Vegas to tape then digitize it back into AVID. This solved the problem but I am about to do another project for the same client and would hate for it to happen again. Any thoughts / ideas?

you’ll need to either conform all the DV to HDV or all the HDV to DV if you want the fields to match on export to AVID.
