Uhh, I want to edit videos, but my camera only captures videos in .mov format, but sony vegas isnt letting me edit them, Is there something I can do to edit these videos?
Whenever I import I get this message
Warning: an error occured while opening one or more files.
The reason for the error can not be determined.

In order to edit .mov files you need to have Quicktime installed on your PC. I am a little surprised that you get .mov files when you capture however, that is usually not the case when you capture on a PC. Normally you should get .avi files.

.mov and .avi are wrapper formats for Mac and PC. If you capture on Mac you get .mov, and if you capture the same from the same camcorder on a PC you get a .avi file.

What process do you use to capture your video? What software?

My guess is that these files come from a digital still camera, right?
If so, have you checked the manufacturer’s web site for a codec that may help you?

Chances are also very good that the .mov files are MJPEG files, and for these files, you’ll need an MJPEG decoder, such as the one from Morgan.
