Problems importing VOB files
I have to edit video (Vegas 7) brought in on DVD. One disk is fine, I can simply drag/drop the VOB files onto the timeline of Vegas. However, the other disk (same contributor) does not work. When I try to import/drop the first VOB file (VTS_01_1.VOB) onto the Vegas timeline, it shows perhaps 28 secs of video, but the file should be 18 minutes or so, as there are multiple VOB files and the video is an hour long. The same happens from this disk when I drop the 2nd or 3rd VOB file as well.
Is this a codec problem? If I click on the VOB file, it plays fine in Windows Media Player or VLC Media Player. So the proper CODEC must be installed on my Windows PC.
Or is it something else? I’m baffled as the other DVD disk works fine when importing the VOB files into Vegas, but this other DVD disk just will not let me import the VOB files correctly.
Any ideas on what is going on? Is there a better way to import into Vegas? I didn’t want to “RIP” the DVD as I thought Vegas could simply import the VOB files.
Does anyone know what is going on? What procedure must I do so I can import the video into Vegas? Thanks!
