replace image/clip and retain properties/effects
Is it possible to replace an image or clip within Vegas7, by just changing the filename, somewhere?
It would be handy to be able to make image changes and yet retain the properties/effects that were developed for the previous image/clip.
Is this doable in Vegas? Thanks!

Right click/Drag the new/replacing file to where the old file sits on the timeline. When you release the click, the menu will allow you to “Add as Take.” All of the properties of the old file are then applied to the new file. This doesn’t remove the old file from the timeline, it merely allows you to create takes, from which you can choose an active take.

Thank you for your reply, Douglas.
That particially works for me, but it does not seem to take on the previous takes Event Pan/Crop properties.
I did entirely cover the previous take and I did set the new take as the active take. It shows up as the visual take, but does not have the pre-adjusted Pan/Crop settings.
Is there a way to carry these over, as well?

If you right-click the file, drag it to the timeline on top of that event, and choose “Add as Take”, it should automatically become the active take and would inherit any Pan/Crop settings.
If you’re totally replacing one clip with another, you could also try right-clicking the media in the Project Media, pick “Replace” and then pick the new file. That will replace it EVERYWHERE on the timeline, though.

D’oh!
All I had to do was learn my directions—right vs. left—and how to read carefully. I had been “left click” dragging, as opposed to “right clicking”, as you both had clearly written.
