Multiple tracks in Vegas – which one takes priority?
Sheesh… as I can’t get Premiere to work properly on XP64 I’m trying out vegas…
So I can create multiple tracks and I can see the preview window… but in Premiere, if I put a clip over another clip, when the timeline was over that portion, it switched to the overlay for the duration of the overlaid clip, then switched back to the base clip.
In Vegas, it never shows the overlaid clip (I do hear the audio from the overlaid clip, but the picture in the preview window doesn’t change?)
So where am I going wrong here? If I have a fixed camera in track 1, do I then have my close-ups in track 2 and should it automatically switch to show them when I overlay the clips at the relevant places?
I’m confused!

The TOP track wins. If you have video on track 1 and track 2, track 1 will win. Sounds like you have the two tracks backwards.

Thanks! I’d inadvertently turned “solo” on on one track!

Solo (and mute) can definitely cause those symptoms. Glad you found the problem.
