Moving image in straight line across screen.
Hi,
Im using event pan/crop to make an image move, but I need this image to move in a straight line from one side of the screen to the other, It looks very unprofessional when it is shaking across the screen ! So does anyone know if there is a way of doing this ?? Thanks for helping.

and also when I draw an image in photoshop and import it into vegas, why does the image change size, it always ends up being massive.

in pan/crop, on the left hand toolbar is an icon showing a 4-way arrow. You can click it to allow movement in any direction, or only vertical, or (surprise!) only horizontal

Thank you. And is there any way of doing the same thing in Video event Fx, because I cannot c the arrow graphic in there.

there is also a numeric value that you can punch in.
so….put image off left and remember the the vertical number.
then move image off right then plug the same number into the vertical field.
now the image will travel but stay on the same vert plane.Photoshop image size question.
make your images in P.S. smaller than 720×480.
If it is text that will be roughly 1/3 the size of the screen then make the image roughly 1/3 the size of 720×480.
this allows a close ratio of 1 to 1. zoom out a little to make it fit better. better to be a little big and shrink it a hair in pan/crop then to zoom in if its too small.Vegas has a hard time with large images
1) it chokes the re-draw, may crash if there are to many.
2) images and text tend to flicker if the resolution is too high.
I do ads for car dealerships, they are always sending me hi-res logos that were made for print. They will flicker regardless of usual anti-flicker settings if I dont put them in photoshop and down-res them first.Hope this helps.

I assume you mean track motion, since video FX don’t have movement….
in track motion, look for the 2 icons along the top – both have a small lock icon with either an X or Y
one prevents movement on X axis, etc etc
for image size, I usually have no problem with images double res, and seeing as I use PAL, around 1440 x 1152, for panning/zooming. All my text made inside vegas I always set to that res, to increase sharpness / crispness. A commonly used trick.

Its the photo with a 8mp camera thats a crusher is what I was getting at.

Thanks a million, that was all really good advice. Im doing ads for the company Im working with too so they have to look professional, so thanks again. It ads with what the customers have said about the company.
Also to Fuddam, I did mean video event fx, I am making the text move accross the screen by using key frames, so thats how Im having movement in there.
One last question, all my images and video seem to have black borders around them, now this would be ok if they were all the same size borders, but they vary. I have made the image larger and the resolution higher but after that they dont look very well, any ideas ???

What was the video shot on ?
IE: if your images and or video was shot on a device with a different
aspect ratio then you may get black bars or borders
try this…
click the pan/crop button on the event
then right click on the image…
choose…”match output aspect”Zipedit

Hi Zipedit,
I tried that and it didnt seem to change them. The video was shot on a “Sony HVR-Z1E/Z1P”, and the images are just still images taken from the video. Yet all the bars around the shots are different sizes and in different places, which results in it not looking professional enough for an Ad to represent the company. I am going insane trying to fix this.

Actually that worked better than I thought, now theres just a bar at the right hand side of the picture. It looks a hell of a lot better so thank very much ! 🙂
