Best resolution for still images in TV
I read in a previous post that i should size mi pictures (for a slideshow) in 1440×960 (the double of 720×480), so i can zoom in and out without problem.
But, when i use photoshop to rezice them, there is another option “the resolution”. How much resolution should i give to it so i can have the best quality when seen on tv screen?
For example, when you use pictures in a website, the computer screen doesn’t support more than 72dpi. For a TV screen, how much dpi can it supports?

When I’m working on a project with a lot of pictures, I adjust the resolution of each one to 72 dpi. I don’t notice any difference between 72dpi pictures and 300dpi pictures, in a standard-def project, when viewed on standard TV screen.
My computer likes it a lot better when I edit with 72 dpi images, too. Having a few dozen 300 dpi jpg’s on the timeline slows things down for me. That is why I lower the resolution to 72 dpi. If I’m only working with a few images, I’ll usually leave them at their original resolution.

You missed NAB this year, Ed was there. It’s was great. I bring all my images into Photoshop and run an action to all my images that sets them at 720 x 480 jpeg. PNG are more friendly to Vegas from what I hear, but jpeg works for me. At the same time my images are set at 300 dpi. Listen to what Ed has to say about the pan/crop and match aspect ratio. I just finished my China DVD’s with over 2000 pics. It looks great.

The only thing I use Vegas Video for is to create DVD slideshows for weddings and funerals (memory video’s). Generally they are all still images but once in a while I’ll use actual footage. I’m looking for an easy way to bring the picture in and slowly move it closer and then switch to a new photo. Is there an easy way to go about doing this to all 300 pictures like a setting or something? Or will I have to adjust the event /pan crop on all of them? I’m still kind of green with Vegas Video. I wouldn’t mind taking some classes on vegas but haven’t really seen any worth taking.
