  • DVD Architect 4 Problem/Question

Posted by Mike Sullivan on April 26, 2007 at 3:20 pm

I’m experiencing something I have never encountered before using DVD Architect 4 and I hoping someone can help me out.

I edited a 1 hr. 28 min. video in Vegas 7 and rendered it as a MainConcept MPEG-2 using the default template as I always do when I’m going to make the video into a DVD using DVD Architect 4.

After the render was complete I had a MPEG2 file at 2.63GB.

Now when I bring this 2.63GB file into DVD Architect 4 to burn to DVD, DVD Architect 4 is telling me the “Disc Spaced Used: 5.6GB”.

Can someone tell me why the heck this is happening and how I can fix it so to get this video burned on a 4.7GB disc?

    Thanks,
    Mike

Ignore the message, prepare the disc, and see how big the final size really is.

Thanks Edward, I’ll give that a try.

What makes DVD Architect 4 think a file is bigger then it really is?

it’s not how big it is, it’s how DVDA uses it

I think sometimes that when you had files that where that big and deleted them, they are still added to the total. What I found is to exit out of DVDA, then start the program again, and it shows the correct total space used.

    Good luck! James

I’ve also read many times that you shouldn’t use the Default template in DVD-Ax. Better to use the NTSC/PAL DVDA template.

When I first started in Vegas/DVDA I used that default template and got really lousy renders.

I experience the EXACT same problem, but when I get to the “PREPARE” and “BURN” option, it won’t let me burn the disc, the button is grayed out. I hit the option to fit to disk but it’s still too large. Do you mean prepare the file the go back and burn the disk from that folder?

If you *KNOW* the file is small enough, go ahead and Prepare. Then go back and see how big the Video_TS folder really is. If it is small enough, then you can just go ahead and burn using any program you wish (including DVD A). However, if it’s too big, there’s something else going on that you need to find to make it smaller.

Go to file/optimize DVD and “fit to disc”
