After seeing LiveType (MAC) i’ve discovered that I need a titling program that works, because Vegas’s really lacks.

I downloaded a demo of HeroGlyph and it seems pretty decent for the price of $79. Is anybody using it, and is there anything better at that price range that plays well with vegas? Would it be worth it to invest in something better? I’d prefer something with a vegas plugin like HeroGlyph has.

    Thanks,
    Eric.

If you want something that plugs directly into Vegas, you’re options are very limited. Basically – Heroglyph and Boris (a third one is no longer being supported).

However, any titling program that can export to a file can be used in Vegas. Many people are using external programs like BluffTitler or the Flash titlers and importing that into Vegas.

I’m mainly looking for something simple, where i can plug my text right into a template, dont want to spend alot of time recreating movement and paths and textures and all that. I was just wondering if HeroGlyph is worth a crap.

Nothing wrong with hieroglyph but I found it fussy to change some of the presets. Take a look at the RiseShine plugin from Pixelan. For $39 it is extremely easy to use and I find adds a lot of pop to titles. Although you can purchase it separately, it is part of the CreativEase package which you might find worth the price. I believe a demo is available from there site.

    I use bluff titler.
    Simple to figure out.
Its easy to get cheesy with it though.
Simple layout. All tools are right in front of you.
lightsourcing and texturing is simple to do.
I just rotate my text a little for depth..color it, Bevel it, add a moving light source, call it a day.
Exporting to uncompressed AVI to retain transparency makes huge file sizes.
12 seconds was about 585 megs.
Importing finished titles into vegas looked good and rendered good.
I recommend it for the $$
I tried about 5 other demos that were under $100 and I keep coming back to this one for timesaving titles outside of vegas’s capabilities.
    No issues or crashes !
