go directly to timecode
Is there an easier/faster/better way to go directly to a certain timecode?
I do window dubs for clients occasionally, and I find that typing in the timecode in the bottom right of the screen, is rather tedious, its just not set up very well to type in a code.Usually its only a few, but this particular project has over 100 cuts.
I just came across the “load markers” script in UltimateS, and that looks like it will work if I type them up in a text file, then pull them in that way.
Is there a script where I can type these timecodes in, and only keep specific segments, without having to go into the timeline manually and remove the bits that I don’t want to keep?
Probably my best bet-huh?

I use the “Extract Good Clips” tool in Excalibur. I just put regions around each area I want to keep, run the tool, and I now have a new track with only those segments I wanted to keep. Now I can delete the original tracks and I’m done. If I wanted to keep the audio, I then run the “Restore Missing A/V” tool to bring that back.

Thanks for the tip.
I would think that just clicking every other clip and hitting the delete key would be easier in that respect, since selecting the region would take longer.
I already have the markers labelled “del” in the text file to import, so it should go rather quickly.I cant believe there’s not an easier way to input timecode into vegas directly, but importing the markers should make it much faster.
This board is great, and FAST. Thanks for all that you guys contribute to the community!

I don’t have Vegas on this machine so I can’t check, but can you type them in in the edit details window?

Okay, you can’t just type in the edit details window but you can paste from the clipboard. in your case that might be better!
I just took a tab delimited file, copied contents to the cliboard, set edit details window to “Markers”, clicked the top-left grid button to select all rows, and pasted.
It’s not perfect. You can’t paste into individual cells, but you can do whole rows, and once a value is present then you can edit it. But this will place markers on the timeline, or regions if that’s the sort of data you have.
Oh, and for regions, you don’t need start, end, and length. Any two will do and Vegas will calculate the rest. Not too bad!
