Not sure why this happened, Vegas has been working fine up until this point.
I have vegas 7.0d, and evertime I try to render anything now, whether its audio or video (ac-3, mpeg-2) it will render for a minute or so, and then give me the same error everytime “an error occurred while creating the media file ‘filename.mpg’ The reason for the error could not be determined.

Nothing has changed in the system since Vegas last rendered something, which was last Wednesday.
I appreciate in advance any input that would help. Thanks guys.

Usually it’s because of a lack of hard drive space either on the destination drive or on the temporary files drive.

This always happens to me. Once, when the same thing happened, I just pressed “render” again and it worked. However, that’s if you’re lucky. You should either try rendering right after your computer turns on, so that you have a maximum amount of virtual memory (which could also be another factor) or you could try rendering pieces of your audio or video at a time. One question – are you trying to render multiple audio/video files at once? Because if you are, then Sony Vegas usually freezes up at such strenuous work.

same problem suddenly started up with me. i have tried rendering short (half minute) projects and i still get that error message straight up without a delay. i have tried restarting the computer and this doesnt help. i’ve had no problem rendering with vegas 7 until now.
