  AC3 audio MPG file Question

  I have a consistent problem with ac3 encoded audio. If I drag in an MPG file that has ac3 audio into a project, it will always have a sync drift problem. By the time I get about 10 minutes in, it is obviously out of sync. Many times it will play correctly on the timeline, but will render out-of-sync. If I zoom in on the timeline I get to a certain point where you can see the audio waveforms move to an earlier time on the timeline.
  If I render a wav file from the audio it will suffer the same drift. I have to import the rendered wav and stretch it to fit.
  Any ideas on solving the problem?
