I just built a system with intel’s QX6700 quadcore. Rendering in Vegas has been somewhat disappointing so far from going from an old dual xeon setup. Rendering to wmv only uses 50% of each core. Rendering to mpeg2 is better at roughly 70%. HDV is 80%. Quicktime is horrible at 25%. Looks like 2 cores are only being used as well each at under 40%. MP4 is 70%.

Some appear to be codec specific on whether they support more than one core, but the ones that clearly use all the cores still aren’t performing to the level they did on the old dual xeon with HT. There I was able to get 100% cpu usage on most renders.

The only way to get 100% on the quad is to open up another instance of Vegas and do a seperate render.

Is there something I can do, a tweak, a patch in windows, different settings?

Maximum Rendering Threads: 4 (highest it will go)
Dynamic RAM preview: 512MB (have 4gigs)
    Running Vegas 7d
    XP Pro 32bit
