Capture Issue
Hi,
I’m having problems when I use the capture option. I though first that it must be my camcorder (Sony HDRFX1e) but I recently bought a different pansonic camcorder and am having the same problem.
So here is my problem: when I capture, the picture becomes very dark. I can see on the camcorder screen that it should be much brighter. I know I can add brightness or change the contrast after it is captured but I shouldn’t really have to do this (or should i?)Many thanks,

I suspect you’re simply seeing the difference between the computer display and the camera display. Always check colors/brightness on an external monitor – you’re computer monitor will generally NOT be what you see on the external monitor.

Ditto to what Ed says above. I find all my captured video is darker on my computer monitor than on my TV monitor or on your camera LCD screen.\
Where you ahve to be careful is how you are going to display the final video. If it’s for DVD and on TV’s you’ll definately need a external monitor because if you do any brightness / contrast adjustments based on your computer monitor, the ‘movie’ will be too bright on TV.
If you’re producing for computer showing (I produce multimedia CD’s for computer use only) then you may have to do some adjusting.
Don’t worry, it took me a while to finally understand this. Especially in the beginning I over corrected and boy was it ever lousy!

This bothered me when I first got my Z1 but then I realized the LCD brightness was set too high. Do your camera output to the TV while watching the LCD. Then adjust the LCD on the camera to match the output. You’ll be getting shots a lot closer to what you think you are shooting. It’s the next best thing to having an external monitor.
