Whenever we bring in jpg graphics we manually set the pixel aspect ration to 0.9091 (NTSC DV)via the media properties panel.

Is there a way to have this applied automatically every time a jpg (or psd or tga etc.)is imported?

    It would save some steps.

    Thanks

Yes there is. Add an image to the timeline, right-click it and go to properties. Go to the second tab and change the aspect ratio as desired. In the middle is the word “Stream”. To the right of that is a drop-down box. To the right of that is a little disk icon. Click on the disk icon to save the change you just made.

Now all pictures of that type should default to your new settings.

Is Vegas mishandling your images if you don’t do that?

    Mishandling?
If you mean the images are not quite right, yes. If we don’t the image distorts wider and people look fatter than they really are. Doesn’t the .9091 adjust for square pixels?

    Enlighten me….
