I have imported video from a DVD in V7. When I place it in the time line I get both the video and audio tracks (so far so good). By using S I split out some sections and deleted them. I end up with two separate events both with audio and video as expected. I then attempt to normalize both audio events. It works fine on one event but the audio in the second event dies (goes straight line) When I try to play it back there is no audio. The second event is fine.

Any ideas of why this might be happening?

I have had this problem with my camera video clips on all versions of Vegas. Most clips will normalize fine, but on some, the audio flatlines. If I really need to work on that clip, I usually insert an audio envelope on the track and rubber band it. I wish they would get this problem fixed.

    Yeah, it’s a long-standing bug.

When this happens, send the original clip to Sound Forge, normalize there, and import the result back to Vegas.
