I just installed 2 new gigs of RAM (had 3 gigs, now have 5). When I go to the Memory and Cache preferences, my Maximum Memory Usage is still only 3.0 GB… is after effects not recognizing the new RAM? Is there any way I can check to make sure all 5 gigs are being utilized?

Do you have 32bit or 64bit computer?
If you have only 32 bit this may be the problem.

hmm… I’m not quite sure actually. Is 32-bit or 64-bit referring to the graphics card? I’m working on a Mac Pro dual core 2.66 GHz intel machine.

64bit refers to the processor; your’s is 64 bit
and refers to the OS; OSX is 64 bit

OSX can only address 3 GB/core,
So AE can use 3 GB for it’s main program and 3 GB/core for extra rendering power.

    cya,
