I am rendering some wedding videos in Vegas 6, and when I play them back I have some jerks or hesitations at some points. I am using the default setttings in Vegas. I am rendering as Compliant Mgeg2, I have no spyware programs or virus programs running, and I also fragmented all drives on the computer last night. I rendered about a 20 minute video this morning after doing all that, and I still have about 3-4 hesitations. I have never had this problem before, and I don’t want to deliver this DVD to the couple this way, even though they are friends and it is a favor.

Are you saying that the hesitations are seen in the finished DVD played on a DVD Player, or you are playing back the files on your computer? If it’s the latter, does the hesitation happen at the same point each time?

The hesitations I noticed on the finished DVD, and there was one time on the DVD that it totally froze, and the only way that I could get out of it was to restart the DVD. But I was also playing back on the computer and it is doing it also (but has never froze up on computer.) Sometimes it hesitates during playback after rendered, and I back it up to go over the same area and sometimes it doesn’t do it the second time, sometimes it does.

I would make the same suggestion as I did to Mary in the thread above. Try different media.

Okay I will try, but I am using Taiyo Yuden. I was told these are about the best.

Since you have played it on the computer I assume you have some sort of DVD player software…WinDVD etc. Have you tried playing back the prepared folder instead of the actual DVD? You should be able to point to the prepared folder and play it directly from the HD instead of the DVD disc. See if it does the same thing while playing the prepared folder.

You mentioned using the default setting for rendering. I was told a long time ago not to use the default setting. Use the NTSC/PAL DVD setting and if you’re rendering for DVDA, there’s a setting for that also. Then you can go into the custom and tweak your bitrates.

I will admit I do not have V6 though so I don’t know if that’s changed in 6. I just bought 7 but haven’t installed it yet. So I know my advice works for version 5 and earlier.
