  Preview window problems

  I’ve got Sony Vegas 6.0 and was working on a project a couple of months ago. I have come back to it now, but when I try to check to see how the project works nothing comes up on the preview window, yet the counters run and the sound is there. However, when I try the individual clips in trimmer they do preview in the window. Why?
  One more thing – when I try to put in a music track over the project it puts it in as an insert not over the required place on the timeline.

  Do you have the video track muted? Another one soloed?

  It sounds like you moved the clips Vegas was using in the veg.

  You need to add an audio track and put the music on the separate track. Then it will go where you place it.

  Do you have the “preview on external monitor” button engaged just above the preview window? If this is engaged you will only see a black preview when playing the timeline.
