I just upgraded to V.7 and have a problem with my video preview window. On previous versions, I can watch an un-effected clip on the ‘preview’ quality setting at 29.97 all day long. V.7 always hovers between 10-15fps in my preview window under the same conditions and after scouring several forums, I seem to be the only person on the planet with this problem.

    Am I missing something?

What happens when you solo a video track?

Gary, when I solo a track, I get the same results….15-20fps from the preview window, up from 10-15fps on a two camera shoot.

I was holding off updating the media manager like the prompt kept asking me when I started the program. I just updated the media manager (which took a whopping half second since I don’t use it) and what do you know, the preview window is back up to speed…maybe even faster than previous versions since I can run a clip with color correction at about 19+fps

To get the closest possible V6 + V7 playback settings, do a control + shift + restart of Vegas 6 (to reset all prefs to “factory settings”). Don’t change _anything_ , window size etc, use the 100% default layout.

Load a DV clip. Play, note the playback framerate. Save the project.

Do a control + shift restart of Vegas 7, again leave everything at the exact default settings and window sizes. Then right click on the preview window and UNCHECK “Simulate device aspect ratio”. Load the Vegas 6 project, play. Note playback framerate- any difference from Vegas 6?
