  • Problems rendering to Quicktime HD

I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 6.0 (not the full version, but
rather the consumer version that does HD capture from HDV cams). I
    have version 6.0a, build 85.

I’ve been making wmv HD clips for months, with outstanding results.
However, I now have a need to also render to a quicktime HD format.
So far, I’m not having much luck at all. Under the quicktime
options on the rendering menu, it only goes up to a 3Mbps option
(not good enough, obviously….. very pixelated and ugly).

I’ve also gone into the “custom” menu from the render box, select
the video tab, and have tried almost every configuration I can think
of in there. First selecting 1280 x 720 HD, setting pixel aspect
ratio to 1.0, then selecting progressive, then selecting all the
    diferent file formats, MPEG-4, H.261, 263, 264, Video, Sorenson,
    Sorenson 3, etc..

The H.264 would not work. Said there was an error in the codec or
something. The other formats all gave lousy results.
The “Sorenson” was the closest to my .wmv results (which were so
good it was hard to distinguish from the .m2t), but it was still
noticeably lacking in color and detail compared to the wmv.

Any suggestions for rendering to Quicktime HD? Is the H.264 the
only way to go for good HD results in Quicktime? If so, do I have
to upgrade to full version of Vegas in order to use it?

    Thank you
    Jay

i don’t have V movie studio so don’t know if it works with 264 ..
in general -Vegas – if the format isn’t in the templates then you take the closest template and modify it … so if sorenson3 comes close but the 3Mbps isn’t doing it for you then click on CUSTOM – Video – then change the “target rate ” from 360 ( whatever # is on window) to 500 or 700 (Kbytes)

you must have QT7 installed for it (qt) to use 264 – from my experience QT6 doesn’t do it ..
