Help!! Vegas 5 suddenly making multiple clip layers
I’m in big trouble. I use Vegas 5 and never had this issue before. I’m hoping it’s a simple fix. I’m in the middle of a complicated video edit and suddenly I must have hit the wrong key or something. Under each event are 3 more copies of it and I have to delete or cut them 4 times to get rid of them. If I move a clip, there is another exact copy waiting under it. I’m screwed. What can I do to fix this and salvage this edit as it seems to be saved like this everytime I exit or restart the program. Did I accidentally tweak a preference? I don’t think these are being treated as takes either.

Sounds like you held down the CTRL key when clicking and draging. A CTRL drag will COPY the selected event(s). I would check to see if the CTRL key might be stuck on your keyboard.

Here’s another question: Is there a way to undo all those darn copies I made? I can’t seem to be able to fix that.Kelly

If you knew it was happening, naturally “Undo” would work. However, at this point it’s just going to be a matter of finding them and then deleting them. I definitely understand the frustration as I’ve done it myself in the past and not caught it until it was too late.
You may be able to go to the View – Edit Details screen and look for multiple events all beginning at the same time. This may help you narrow down where to look.
