Vegas is my tool of choice for editing period. The timeline is so much better to work with than any of the others. I find myself needing better text handling and quality. I use a friends after effects setup from time to time and the ability to manipulate text and graphics right on the preview screen is powerful stuff. Does anyone think vegas might go that way or is there some advantage i’m missing with having to open a second screen to animate text and graphic. What do you guys think.

The lack of a decent titler in Vegas has been a major complaint since version 3 (when video came into the picture).
For whatever reason, Sonic Foundry and now Sony continue to ignore repeated requests for a better one.
For this reason, a lot of users (like you) are using apps such as AE, Photoshop, Bluff Titler and others to do their titles.
Maybe we’ll get our wish in Vegas 7. We can only hope 🙂

Yes…that exactly what i’m hoping for in Vegas 7. In my opinion thats the only thing that keeps Vegas from being the strongest editing piece out there.

I agree mike,, seems so strange that vegas “got” into the “3d” thing ,which to me is a joke, without making a decent titler. so now we use what ever program we need to do titles and still use whatever program we need to do 3d, forget 3d bs and lets edit.

I’ts not a super cheap answer but it works pretty well and gives you far superior text and titling and also has the ability to go to 1440 x 1080 for HDV production. It’s Power CG Plus from Cayman Graphics. If you are used to tools like Inscriber Titlemotion it’s a snap to use and the best thing is that it works as a fully integrated plugin in Vegas 6.0.

I would buy CG Plus, but it’s about $200 too high. It costs as much as vegas almost and I just don’t think a titler is worth that much. My opinion.

Power CG RFS looks pretty good, at less than half the price of Power CG Plus. Look at https://www.caymangraphics.com/Compare.html

After rendering a 40 minute segment for two days, I have other wishes to add:
Faster rendering of effects. Why can’t Vegas utilize the video card processing like Magic Bullet and Seious Magic products?

Why is Vegas only 8 bit? Sony comes out with a highly successful HDV camera and promotes Adobe Premiere with it in magazine ads. Does the right hand not know what the left is doing at Sony?
