Blackmagic Decklink Preview Problem
I have been using a Decklink Extreme for previews on a system with no firewire devices. I have just taken a job that needs Betacam capture and layoff. I tried capturing with the decklink and had some problems- and decided to upgrade Vegas to 6.0d and Decklink to 5.6. I can now capture using Decklink in Vegas Capture, but now I can not get the preview working. Any ideas?

Yes, I have the preview device setting correct. I now think this is a Black Magic issue- the latest drivers- 5.6- seem to be incompatible with my system, which is a bit older, and not up to the latest specs. I haven’t tried it with Vegas yet, but I just succeeded in getting Premiere Pro 1.51 to work correctly, by reinstalling the previous BMD drivers -5.5.1-. I have eliminated Vegas from this system in the process, to make sure Vegas and Premiere don’t conflict with each other, and since Vegas can’t retain the source clip timecode using BMD capture from analog sources, I will do this project with Premiere. Mike- thank you for that. I had thought it would be OK just to keep upgrading the drivers.
On the other question, am I correct in the assumption that Vegas can not retain the source tape timecode with BlackMagic capture? Or is there something I have missed with this as well? Perhaps if I get the 4.8.1 drivers installed this would work also?

Let us know if this works out. I was thinking of getting a Decklink card but your post stopped me in my tracks.
