Using a tray and swappable hard drives system, Star Tech, for some time.
Upgrading to Opteron system and was wondering if I should continue with swappables or go to a system of external hard drives in a tower enclosure?
Notice from earlier thread that speed appears to be a consideration and that USB has the inside track according to Gary.
    Any thoughts pro or con.
Time to ditch the trays and move to extnal HD tower?
Also,—what is the prefered system to back up projects?
Getting a 250 external to be hooked to router. But this will likely not be nearly big enough to back stuff up.

Instead of a tower, I find it more versitile to use individual external enclosures. That way, they are portable as well. I have 5 enclosures and about 18 drives in hot-swappable trays. It’s real easy to reconfigure what drives are hooked up to what computers at any given time.
