  ot camera questions

  I know this is a little off topic but I really trust you guys as Videographers.. I have a dilema I am looking to purchase cameras for the studio I am working for. Currently an Audio Production Co. they are moving into the Video field.. We are looking at options for cameras and are thinking about HDV cams… I have used Canon XL series cams in the past and love them …. HDV cams seem to be the new thing but I am wondering if and how the extra expense for each cam is warranted… it is possible that in the near future that we will be working on Indie Film stuff how would HD be usefull for that? considering that one must use special gear to view HD at this time….

  It would be wise to consider spending the extra $$ now on HDV rather than investing in a technology that people are making the move away from. You can always produce SD video with HD gear, but not the other way around.

  On the other hand, there are just going to be more and more bargans on SD gear as the move to HD progresses.
