Capturing DVD menus – any way?
I would like to use some of my DVD menu designs on my reel. Usually, they are Vegas/Photoshop creations, rendered as MPG2, and finished (buttons, some text, etc.) in DVDA.
Ideally, I’d like to have thumbnails of the menus, that – when clicked – come up as if you were actually watching the DVD, only obviously without all the media assets (so, non-clickable buttons, etc.).
I thought about just using the “rendered” menu (MPG file), but all the buttons and stuff are one in DVDA, so they’d be missing.
If anyone can make sense of what I’m probably failing to explain, can you offer any suggestions on how this might be possible?

Not sure if this is what you are trying to do, but software DVD Players (like PowerDVD) will let you save current frames to a picture file.
Or, look at your VIDEO_TS folder, there should be some small *.vob files (small compared to the main title in the dvd) — those will be your menus. Perhaps you can change their extension to *.mpg and play them back in a video editor?

The still thing won’t work, as I’m trying to showcase the motion menus. I hadn’t thought of the VIDEO_TS folder, though, that might just work! Thanks for your response!
