  Large Vegas project-Increase Internal HDD size

  I’m a longtime Vegas user and I’ve tried to search on the Microsoft site for an answer this but to no avail.
  I just installed SvcPack2 for XPPro. I heard that it allows a HDD storage capacity greater than 139GB without resorting to a RAID configuration. Can anyone confirm this and if so, what’s the maximum size HDD without going to RAID?

  It would sure make life easier for large projects if the HDD size could be increased.

  I have removable HDDs in trays (120GB) but again, if a larger HDD can be used I’ll do it.

  I have no trouble with larger discs but it’s not just the version of windows that’s a factor. Your BIOS must support a larger disk.

  Also, I have one ADS enclosure that won’t support larg discs and two others that do. Just to illustrate that there are other factors besides the OS.

  You don’t need SP2 (or XP for that matter) to support disks over 139GB. Windows has supported disks of 2TB (a little over 2000GB) at least since Windows 2000. Some very old motherboards will not support disks of this size, but if you can run Windows XP on your PC you probably do not have that old a motherboard.

  I think that’s going back to W98SE days. Ever since W2K you can use larger HD’s. My current editing machine has 2 extra internal SATA 200gb HD’s in adition to C drive. No problems.
