  I have a Sony HD1 camera. I shot some clips in HD tried to capture the clips into Vegas 6 but the program will not recognize the camera.

  It will recognize in SD mode.

  Your help is appreciated.

  Are you using the ‘internal’ capture application that opens as a tab on the Vegas interface? That’s the one for HDV capture.
