I understand how to add a velocity envelope to Vegas, but I am not sure if there is a setting to make the Audio change with the playback speed of the video track with the velocity envelope applied.

Anyone out there know how to fix that?

Sorry, there is no Velocity Envelope equivalent for audio.

You can stretch (or shrink) the audio by placing the cursor at the end of the clip and, while holding the CTRl key down, drag it as desired.
Also, right click on the audio clip and select “Properties” and then “Lock to Stretch” next to “Pitch Change”.

Are there any tips on how to make the audio sound like it’s being used with a velocity envelope?

Sorry but the only way that I know of is to break it into pieces and deal with each one separately.

Dang. I hope they change that in a new version, cuz that’s kind of arrogant… agree?

Or if you want a slowing audio effect,
    try “pitch bend” of soundforge.
