  • DVD with smaller frame size?

The nomal MPEG2 file that you find on DVD’s is 720 x 576 pixels if you are using PAL. I have heard that there are other official DVD compliant files sizes like 360 x 288 which any DVD Player should be able to play.

If this information is correct does anyone know if you can really make a fully complient DVD using that sort of frame size with chapter points & menu’s? I’m aware that using a frame size as suggested won’t produce a DVD that is as good as using the normal frame size. I have heard that if you have old footage that isn’t of the best quality a smaller frame size can even improve it’s appearance. Is this true?

No more so than playing it on a smaller TV.
