    hi gents,

my banana wipe wiped to perfection. thanks.

just discovered i can use gradient wipes with sm luminence plugin – now that’s great cause i can design my own wipes!

however, i might be being dense, but then again, i’m coming from dvlab, but how do i grab a frame out of a video track in dvd to use in the menu?

    as ever, thanks in advance,

    leslie

To change a thumbnail still, select the button then go to Media > Thumbnail Propeties > Start time.
Click on the right hand side to bring up a slider to select still frame or you can type in timecode.

If you want, you can use any jpg or different video as thumbnail – select the button, find the file in Explorer and drop it onto the Button Properties / Media / Thumbnail Media directory.

Further down this directory you can tweak Brightness / Contrast / Colorize and Alpha transparency

Put the cursor on the frame you want. Change the preview mode to “Best (Full)”. Now click on the “Save Snapshot” button just above the preview screen. This will give you a snapshot of just that one frame as either a JPG or PNG. Now you can just drag that snapshot into DVDA for the menu.

For better results, you might want to deinterlace after taking the snapshot or use a script which will set all the proper settings in Vegas before taking the snapshot so Vegas will deinterlace it for you.

as ever, the cavalry to the rescue….

many thanks to both of you. i think peter’s way is what i was actually after, having used edwards to capture a background earlier on. i presume it’s in the manual, but i was so pressed for time i couldn’t find it.

sad state of affairs when the cow is quicker than the index….

    again, thanks,
