  • Recommendation on entire hardware system for Vegas

Posted by Bloomingg on November 5, 2005 at 11:37 pm

My current system (3 year old Dell) has died.

I want to buy a new system built around editing videos with Vegas Video and managing digital photos. I want to get it done in the next week.

Any recommendations on one stop companies or retail outlets that I can go to? Better yet, any recommendations on a complete system – or major components?

Anything would help. Thanks in advance…

Great, thanks. That helps alot. I would assume you recommend the retail outlet you got it from also? Any other specifics would be helpful.

I’m looking forward to getting into this a bit more effectively…

Gary – I’ve just looked at your post describing your new system but I would be grateful for some more information (I’m looking for a new system). Is this a dual cpu and dual core set up? How much RAM do you have and what knid of video card are you using? Have you found the speed of all your rendering is consistently as fast your first test? Thanks.

I just bought a system through the outfit Gary recommended – very similar to Gary’s (a few more pariferals since I’m new and don’t have a lot of the attachments he does).

The salesman he recommended was OUTSTANDING – helped me a lot. I can send you the build I got which is basically the same core as Gary’s with a hard drive, etc.

I obviously don’t have the system in so can’t comment on its performance yet, but from what the salesman (and Gary) indicate, Gary is very happy with it.

    Let me know. Good luck.

Ken, this doesn’t look pretty because I just cut and pasted it from my work order. But I think you should be able to figure out the main items. Like I said, I don’t know if it’s the best, but Russell at Tastycomputers and Gary sure seem say this is a great platform.

    Good luck!

Tim – Been away from the computer for a few days so I didn’t see this until this morning. Thanks very much for the info.

    Hi bloomingg,

I was checking out your specs and it looks like a mean machine. Are you happy with the performance and stability? How much was your mean machine if you don’t mine me asking?

    Thanks,
