Credit roll seems complicated
Hi folks,
I recently upgraded to Vegas 6 and am impressed by its
smoothness and stability. I have two questions however..1) Ive so far avoided using scrolling text in Vegas as
it seemed over complicated. To get a single line of text to
simply scroll from bottom to top I’d have to delete various
other lines of text saying ‘place text here’, and what I’d be
left with was my line of text which would often be out of line
(either too high or too low) , and the text alighnment tool
wouldnt be much help in correcting it.So is there is simple way to get one line of text (just three
words) to scroll in Vegas? Or can anyone suggest a plugin that
will do the job easily?2. Vegas-6 seems to go walkabouts even more that v.5. What I mean is,
whenever I save to the Vegas video folder, where I store my unfinished
video projects, Vegas-6 will instead try and save to the last folder that
I browsed – usually an audio or pictures folder. I then have to find the Vegas
folder to save to. Repeated 20 or 30 times while making a video, this task of
always having to locate the Vegas video folder in order to save a project, gets tedious.Ive tried setting the folder path in the options/preferences but still have this prob.
Any help on either problem would be much appreciated.

Hi Tin
A simple way of scrolling text like you would want is to use keyframes of the video event.
Create your text using the “Generated Media” selecting style,font and starting position. Then select the “Event Pan/Crop” function of the newly created media. In the Keyframe Controller, click to position the cursor where you want to add the first keyframe. Move the cursor to where you want your effect to end and then add another keyframe. At this keyframe, adjust your position of the text.
You can play with various attributes of the keyframe to give you the desired effect.

To make it even easier, forget using Pan/Crop. Just add two keyframes in the text generated media and, using the Positioning tab, set the first keyframe with the text off the bottom of the screen and set the second keyframe with the text off the top of the screen. This method is much more flexible as well.

Ive tried both methods and they work quite well (getting some unique
text pans diagonally across the screen, which I never would have
thought of otherwise.One problem. When I try and place the text either top or bottom, I’ll often get
a coloured arrow appearing pointing in the upward or downward direction, and when
this happens I cant ‘push’ the text any further up or down – to get it off screen as it were.Any clues?

PS: Ive got the saved folder path problem sorted. Turns out I hadnt
ticked the ‘preference’ box saying ‘apply these settings to all
future projects” (or words to that effect)—

When I can’t move them any further, I just manually change the X and Y numbers in the boxes. I don’t know why it won’t let you move them farther without manually changing the numbers but do know that method works.
