I recently did a project where I imported png’s from a powerpoint presentation into Vegas. I also did some picture in picture effects because there was real video on some of the images. When I rendered the video and used Vegas Architect to build a DVD for a widescreen monitor I was either getting letter boxing aroudn the whole movie or the movie was being cut off on the sides of the screen.

What do i need to learn or do to out put a movie that will not distort my images and video but also be versital and work AUTOMATICALY anywhere it is being played. I really just want it like a typical DVD film where there is letter boxing on the top and bottom depending on where it is being played from. So if it is widescreen it will look great but if it is on a 4:3 it will still look good but have letter boxing.

    Please Help!

I wish I could point you to a one-size-fits-all answer, but I don’t think there is one. Probably best to experiment with producing regular 4:3 videos and just let the widescreen TVs take care of themselves – they should automatically properly display the material. Once you get that down you can fool around with 16:9.
