  • Anyone have problems with DVD’s playing in specific Sony Hi-End players

Hi… I thought I was through with this problem but here I go again. Has anyone had a problem with hi-end DVD players.

Currently I Encode at a slightly less bitrate than the standard DVD settings, I believe 7500000.., 4000000…, and the default min.

I’ve been using Nero 6.3 which was a suggestion over Sony’s Architect program… I once had occasions where DVD’s would not play in Computers.. of all things… but fine in DVD players… anyway, Nero seems to have done the trick there and haven’t had a single call back on a DVD all year… until now!

Seems the player is a hi-end Sony (relatively new).

Any hints on this one? At about 42 minutes into the program the dvd throws up!

not an issue of a packed DVD either, only about 1.5 hrs of content.

Using Fuji 8x media. on a sony drx 530UL burner (should I back the burn speed down???)

    Thanks to all…

My Sony DVD players are the first to show problems that you are stating.
The sollution for me is to slow the burn down.

Thanks.. that was my first thought too after thinking on this.. i was using memorex media and perhaps the fuji media is not as forgiving… also, I think that i might have been in a hurry and let it roll at 8x when I usually burn video and audio DVD’s and CD’s at a much lower rate than the media is rated at.. i’ve had similar problems with audio CD’s that we produce and the safest insurance is to back the burn down to at least the mid range… say 20 times for a 40 times burner and media with our bravo duplicator.

thanks for your suggestions and your insights on the sony dvd players. it sems that people who buy the $79.00 dvd players have no problems.. just those who purchase hi end players.

same case here with a cheap dvd player compared to our panasonic t-2020… it will throw up media more often than cheap players

I burned the same dvd compilation at 2x and waiting to hear back from teh client.

    i’ll post the results
    All the best!
