  • Which tool for Audio Cd’s?

Posted by Larry Watts on September 12, 2005 at 3:49 pm

We produce a TV program using Vegas and DVDA and are quite happy with the worlflow and results.

We have more call for audio CD’s (speaking-not music)now and so I’m
asking for input about which tool to create these with:
Vegas? DVDA? Roxio? Adobe Audition? Others?

The Audio CD’s we’ve produced tend to have a lower amplitude than the
    professional mastered examples we have.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

I would just use Vegas. However, there IS CD-Architect which comes with Sound Forge now.

HA! Funny you should ask! That’s what I’m doing right now. Recording lectures from cassette tapes into Vegas 5. I tried using Sound Forge but didn’t like it. Vegas does audio quite well. From what I understand, Vegas started life originally many years ago as an audio software.

I have a recent post about help using my mixer but what I wound up doing was connecting my cassette deck directly to the line-in on my sound card and controlling the input volume using XP’s recording control. Getting fantastic results. And I can use Sony’s Noise Reduction in Vegas as well as Sound Forge for removing any hum or background noise.

For burning the tracks onto a CD, I’ll just use my NTI burning software. Or you can use your Nero of any burning software.

So Allen, why not just let Vegas burn the CD’s? That’s what I’ve been doing for creating the audio CD’s.

    Oh Boy!
I gotta look. I didn’t realize or didn’t know that Vegas will burn a audio CD. Hmmmmmm

Been using DVDA for burning all my DVD’s and NTI for the Audio but haven’t really burn’t much in the way of audio in years. It’s all been VCD and DVD.

    Thanks for reminding me.

How do you get the CD to display the Artists name?

    Thanks

Never worried about that. There are the settings under File – Properties. However, CD-Architect is Sony’s full-blown CD authoring program. It comes with Sound Forge 8.
