  • DVDA3 does not animate thumbnails?

Posted by Laszlo Kovacs on July 2, 2005 at 5:46 am

    Hi,

I’m getting closer to finish a work in DVDA3.

I mostly did things just like in DVDA2, except
that the new gui stopped me for a short time,
until I found the control I was looking for.

But the last one seems to be hard to solve:

My thumbnails in the scene selection menu
    do not animate.
Everything looks OK, they are set up “animated”,
menu length is autocalculated, so that it equals
to the audio length, the thumbnail media is from
the movie, start time is OK, but it does not animate.
    Any ideas why?
    (DVDA3 build 106).

    Thanks a lot in advance

You are checking this in ‘preview disc’ ?

    No, I prepared the disc.
The prepeare is ready in few minutes,
which is very short time when it’s about
    animated thumbnails.
Then I view the prepared disc (not burnt on
DVD yet) with my player, and the thumbnails
    are still.

    I just updated to DVDA3 to 3.0a build 117,
but did not solve the problem.

And my loops are bad too.
I’m thinking of returning to DVDA2…

DVDA 3 animates thumbnails just fine. I’ve done it several times. I just placed a few pieces of media on the timline, clicked each one separately changing the “Style” in the Media category to “Animated”. I then hit preview and it was animated as expected.

That must be some bug in DVDA3, that driven me crazy.

    My thumbnails was first still.
Then I have set “redusce interlace flicker on”.
Then I set my thumbnails to be animated.

And then checked the result, and was not that I expected
    (animating thumbs).

I played around a lot, and found:

setting reduce interlace flicker to off and then back to on
makes the thumbs start to animate…
On other pages, where I didn’t change r.i.f. off and on,
the animating thumbs are still however they should move…

    Did I found a BUG?

    Thanks for your help!

Well, of course I have set r.i.f. off/on
on all my pages already, so everything is just fine.

I was not able to quickly duplicate that. Can you give step-by-step instructions to duplicate?

    And _NOW_ I cannot too.

Really don’t know what was happening.

In fact I didn’t have a certain idea
how the final dvd menu should look,
and tested lot’s of buttons, played
    with properties, looked up themes,
    changed the background graphic
more times, and so on until I find
a “look&feel” which I felt OK for this
    work.

And then when everything seemed OK
my thumbnails didn’t want to animate…

    Ehhh.

The important thing is that _NOW_
my DVD looks exactly like I want it
    to look.

Later if I’ll have more time, I’ll
    try to reproduce the problem.

Anyway, thank you for your attention.
