    Ladies, gentlemen,

I recently made a two track audio recording. I recorded my material as a stereo file, but I would now like to treat the audio as two seperate mono files. Can this be done easily in Vegas 5, convert a stereo track into two mono tracks?

    Thanks a million in advance

Right-click in the track header – duplicate track.
    Right-click track 1 – channels – left only.
    Right-click track 2 – channels – right only.

And Excalibur has a “Stereo Split” tool to make that entire process a single button click.

I’m sure Excalibur is a powerful tool, but I think I will be able to perform the following steps in one day, which you decribe as “entire process” 🙂

Right-click in the track header – duplicate track.
    Right-click track 1 – channels – left only.
    Right-click track 2 – channels – right only.

    Thanks,

Definitely no need to purchase Excalibur just for doing this one time. However, if you had a BUNCH of them to do and/or you needed some of the other tools, it would make sense. Just pointing out that if you had Excalibur 4 there’s a tool built-in that will do this for you.
