vegas 5 system is low on memory
I am getting asn error “system is low on memory. Close other apps. Windows virtual memory too low. I am only getting this when running vegas 5. It seems a background task is running every time I open vegas preventing me from rendering anything in vegas. Everything else on my machine is fine i checked it all.
Any help would be great Ive got an important project i have to complete. Thanks forum -

Occasionally I see this and it’s usually after having been on the system for some hours. Running 2 Gig ram and yet when I check system resources or check Task Manager there is ample physical ram/memory left so what this message means is that the system is low on ‘Virtual Memory’. I sometimes see it when I am using Sound Forge in conjunction with Vegas and doing some intense audio work.
With a bit of further investigation I think you will find changing your ‘Virtual Memory’ settings may supply the answer to your problem. To get a better overview of this problem have a look at:

Read the whole page but make sure you check the very bottom of that page under the heading ‘Problems with virtual memory’. Increasing your ‘virtual memory’ may solve your problems. I am led to believe that under XP you don’t have to allocate a ‘virtual memory’ to additional drives. This used to be the common practice under NT to minimise the ‘out of memory’ problem.
To alter these settings go to ‘control panel’ select ‘system’ under system properties select ‘advanced’ where you will find a ‘performance dialogue’ with a ‘settings’ button. Click this and it will take you to ‘performance options’, under this you can select the ‘advanced’ tab and at the bottom of this dialogue you will find a ‘virtual memory’ dialogue with a ‘change’ button. Select this and increase you virtual memory. Generally the less system ram you have the bigger this needs to be. More than likely this will solve your problem, if not you may have to increase your

In my experience, a static pagefile slightly improves system performance and reliability. You do this by setting the minimum and maximum memory amounts the same.
