Weird motion path issue
I’m trying to get a handle on using a motion path to animate a camera around the outside of a circle. I have watched the “camera down the road” tut here several times, but I am experiencing some weird things applying it to my scene.
I set up a test scene with a solid that has a circular mask drawn on it. I then used the mask path to set keyframes for a nulls position. I then added a camera to my scene and used the x and y from the nulls position for the position of the camera (via an expression). The z is a fixed number. I also oriented my camera to the path.
When I watch the camera from the top view I see the camera moving along the path with no issues, it also is orienting in the proper direction. However, the camera starts in the 12 o’clock position and travels counter clockwise. When it reaches the 9 o’clock position it seems to flip. I have attached 2 pics showing the fame before and the frame after the flip.
When the camera gets around to the 3 o’clock position it flips again. Of course, this messes up the animation. What am I doing wrong and what can I do to keep this from happening?
Thank you!
Ben
