OT – Computer Diagnostics
My system is a 3 year old Dual Proc AMD 1800 Athlon computer. I know it’s a bit outdated but I don’t currently have the funds to upgrade to something more current and awe inspiring. I recently upgraded the OS from XP Pro SP1 to SP2 and upgraded from Vegas 4/DVDA1 to Vegas 5/DVDA2 in January (of course I should have waited til NAB to get vers 6).
Ever since making these upgrades, my system is very glitchy. Lots of freezes and crashes as well as not being able to print to tape (I get lots of video stuttering and dropout). The system is capturing video just fine. I doubt very much that Vegas is the culprit. I’m sure it is either a hardware problem or something with the XP upgrade. I’m not a computer genius and don’t really know where to begin to troubleshoot. What do I do? Are there any good diagnostic programs out there? Please help. Thanks

uninstall or rollback so service pack 2 is gone and service pack 1
is installed.I can’t count how many times a micro$oft service pack completed
hexed systems that were otherwise working just fine before.Since then I don’t upgrade service packs unless absolutely necessary.

I downloaded a couple of “fixit” type utilities programs from Download.com. Specifically Ace Utilities and another piece of software called Super Utilities. I’m happy to report that after using these programs to clean up my registry and get rid of a lot of unwanted stuff on my system, it appears that I’m back up and running smoothly. But I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
This software is free to try, but after the success I’ve experienced, I have no problem purchasing the software
