Particle Illusions 3.09 has no emitter preview
Alan,
Do do you know if a “fix” will be made to correct this issue for users under Vista,Windows 7 and Windows 8? I seem to recall that the original version 3.0.4.1 still had working emitter previews under Windows 7. Does GenArts plan on making any patches for version 3.09 soon to correct the emitter preview?

You mean in the “file open” dialogs for projects and emitter libraries? If so, I’m sorry to say that no fix is coming soon for that. For emitter libraries, the workaround is to use the library manager and load libraries from there. Sorry.

Yes sorry, I was referring to open Load Library option under the Library window. If this worked fine under version 3.0.41 and not under 3.09, would a Patch not be created since it seems that the new version broke something? I know there is a workaround, but I have always preferred going to Load Library.
If there is no Patch planned, does GenArts plan on making a new versions of PI and bringing back this function? I’m just curious as to why .

It was a change in Windows that broke this function. It’s possible it could come back, but I worked on it back then (when Win 7 was new) and I couldn’t figure out how to make it work. (I’m simplifying of course)

Ok thanks for clarifying. I was just wondering why if the older version worked (3.0.4.1), why version 3.09 would not under the same OS?
I wonder if installing ClassicShell would bring this function back? What is the function called that Windows changed that prevented the preview from working?

I guess I just wanted confirmation from you that GenArts is still planning on making improvements to this program or are they taking the technology behind PI and incorporating it into their other products and leaving PI behind? (similar to when Serious Magic was bought out by Adobe. Now all Serious Magic products are gone)

I worry since I see less and less “activity”. I see no mention if updates to the PI Plugin for Vegas is being planned as well so that is why I am asking.
