I am trying to make a 3D timeline with a 3D line (Maybe 3D Stroke) that will go back in space and there will be pictures and video on the timeline with Dates associated. I know how to do the 3D zoom to the back, but my trapcode 3D stroke isn’t really being 3D in the sense that it doesn’t have depth parsee, is that right? If it is right, what can I DO to make a 3D Line for my timeline that is hidden by the pictures and video as I go back in depth? Should I use Trapcode Particular instead or something from After Effects? Thanks

I think you’re overthinking this. Why not just create a solid and apply a mask to it to get a thin line running across your comp. Apply Stylize>>Motion Tile to it and set the width to like 800 or 1000, something like that. Make the layer 3D and rotate it on the Y axis to the angle you need. Now you can add a camera and fly along the line. You can put your pictures, video, and text along different points of the line.

Awesome, thanks for simplifying this for me, I was over thinking it. That’s much much easier of a technique and worked well. Thanks again Bill

Now what if I want it to be a 3D timeline, like the one in the title intro for this video. Roughly 25 seconds into the video. The mask + Motion Tile just doesn’t cut it.
