Making particles stick to characters and ground.
Posted by Bob Lablaugh on May 3, 2007 at 8:18 pmI’m using PI to create an effect in which a great deal of blood sprays out at a character. I’d like some of the blood to stick onto the character, and onto the ground. Is there some way of making this happen?

May 8, 2007 at 8:06 pmYou can easily do in in after effects. Just use another layer with blood stains on the ground and the character and use the round mask with feather for them to appear. Andrew Cramer has a tut exactly on that subj: https://www.videocopilot.net/videotutorials/blood/
Hope it helps

May 8, 2007 at 10:07 pmYes. Open the Project Settings and set the framerate to 5.0 or whatever slow rate you want.
Then select an appropriate emitter like “Bad Boy…” in emitters_04_03 (March 2004), add it anywhere on the stage, then r-click on the stage emitter and select “Record position”. You can now manually “record” position keys.

May 9, 2007 at 4:54 pmI had managed to do this when someone asked a similar question at NAB by reducing the particle’s Bounce and using a Deflector. I haven’t been able to remember exactly how I did it because the particles need a certain amount of Bounce to stick to the deflector, but I think if you reduce the Velocity after the point which they hit, they’ll hit and stay still.
