Particle Dynamics
To whom it may concern.
Wondering if this is possible. Might be a simple thing but I’m going to ask it anyway. Is there a way to turn off particle dynamics in PI. Example. I animate particles moving on the screen from left to right about 30 frames. The particles start leaning towards the left because of the momentum. Is there a way I can turn this off and just have the forces do the work.

If you set “velocity” to 0, then the particles won’t move until they enter the force area. Is this what you mean?

No. All I was wondering is, can you disable the dynamics on an animated emitter. Example: Animating an emitter from left to right on the screen and as the emitter is moving it will tend to lean to the left as the emitter moves across the screen. Is it possible to disable this?

I don’t understand what you mean by “lean to the left”. Can you post an image?
Particles only move with an emitter if the “attach to emitter” control in the emitter properties dialog is non-zero.

I think in this case you could accomplish what you want by moving the smoke particle using “Offset” at the top of the list just under “Layer.” I believe this moves the entire layer and should eliminate the “leaning” you don’t want. The smoke should stay completely straight up (or at whatever angle) with no leaning. The layer “Angle” setting may also be of help at some point too.
