  Having problems importing uncompressed avi footage into PI

  Good afternoon!

  I’m having a little trouble with a project and I’m hoping I can get some help.
  I have two avi clips, one rendered from After Effects at 29.97 full frame uncompressed, the other from Vue 5i, same settings (29.97, full frame, un compressed)

  When bringing them into PI, they show up in the preview when selecting the footage, but once I click ok… the screen is black, nothing shows up.

  I seem to have no problem utilizing the raw footage, caught direct from tape… no problems there

  I have pi 3.0.1a on a dual processor opteron, 1gram, nvidia geforce fx 5200

  Turning off hardware acceleration doesn’t do any good either… something I’m missing here?

  Some people have trouble with uncompressed AVI with pIllusion for some reason. I suggest downloading the Huffy UV codec (which is lossless, like ZIP) and using that instead of uncompressed. Either that or export a PNG sequence and use that in pIllusion.

  What works for me when rendering uncompressed AVIs out of Vegas is to check the box that creates an alpha channel for the AVI. Even though pI can’t use the alpha channel for transparency, that allows it to play back as a background.

  Not sure if this will work in AE or Vue, but it may be worth a shot.

  Thanks for the tips! I’ll check and see if re-rendering out from Vegas like Deane mentions will work, or, I’ll just go ahead and use an image sequence.
