    G’day all,

I’m having an issue with AE ram preview/render. Not sure what the main cause is here…

    Here’s what I’m running… vista 64, CS3, quadro 4500, 8 gig ram…

The projects is using about 18 layers, though I’m working in 1/4 resolution, for preview and render. I have MP switched on…

I have just recently switched over to Vista 64 from XP 64… Vista is proving to be far more stable for me so far, which is a plus…

When I was using XP 64, I was working on the same project…So same plugins and footage. Never had this problem occur.

What exactly happens? A green dotted cross appears on the preview screen, when doing a ram preview or rendering out… If i do a fresh load it won’t happen on the first preview. it takes a few.

I’ve done trial and error and it doesn’t seem to be a plugin.

I’m thinking it’s a ram or video card issue here.

My previous XP setup did have the avid codec installed…Will this help?

Sorry if this is something obvious, I’m pretty new to this stuff…

By turning of multiprocessing, the mark has now left the building.

Funny thing is that AE still would render out but with the green cross mark???

Vista does chew up a lotta ram…Probably need to free up some. Got no idea how too though. Need to research that one…Gonna have to get NP now. What’s the trial alllow you to do?

Would love to get multiprocessing back on…

I also read that moving the prefrences folder on to the desktop, resets AE which helps preview poblems. Where do I find this folder on a PC. Is it the adobe folder in users/tom/documents/adobe/afterefffectscs3/userpresets? I could only find a thread about doing it on a MAC not PC

I will keep this updated for future reference too.
